Catching you up

Pin It now! My blogging attempt so far has been pretty pathetic. I've posted one previous post back in August. But the wedding planning has been moving forward!

Catch up...

We have a venue for our wedding! We'll be getting married at the Chart House in Weehawken on August 8.

Yes, it's M's birthday...We wanted a summer wedding and we figured it would be the best date especially since he'll be turning 35. Plus, the date is as auspicious as you can get (according to the Chinese).

The place is perfect for our style. It overlooks the NY skyline and it'll be beautiful at night. The decor is simple but modern. It even has bamboo everywhere - very "Asiana". It was so fun picking out the menu. The Chart House has a $25k minimum so instead of a per person menu, we were able to customize the appetizers during the cocktail hour and the different courses during dinner. For the cocktail hour, we have a raw bar (M and I can't wait!) and hors d'oeurves being served (Grissini with proscuitto and arugla; the Chart House jump lump crab cake; Macadamia nut crusted chicken satay; spinach and feta phyllo; Bacon wrapped sea scallops; Coconut crunchy shrimp; Bruschetta; and Veggie spring rolls). For dinner, we start with Pasta Pomodoro, the Chart House (award-winning) Clam Chowder and a Mixed Green salad. For the entree, it's a choice of Gulf Snapper (shrimp crusted with a lobster cream sauce) or Beef Tenderloin Medallions in a Merlot demi glaze. For dessert we have the wedding cake and Italian pastries from Carlo's Bakery.

We booked the DJ and photographer on Saturday. We chose Elite Sound Entertainment in Saddlebrook NJ. I scoured the Weddingbee.com and The Knot boards for different DJs and Elite seemed to have the most competitive prices without being too cheesy. Our DJ will be Mike Bedkowski. Our photographer will be Jessica Lauren Photography. She is associated with Elite Sound which made it much easier to book. I love her photojournalistic style (aka candids). We met both Mike and Jessica this past Saturday, and really liked how they were young and modern. Again, totally in line with our own styles.
I'm so relieved because now all the big things on our list are done. I kept getting told that we're slow and we have to hurry up with everything so now I can just enjoy the rest of the planning!
