ok, this is a day late, but happy independence day! hubby and i went out to my sister-in-law's house in nj. she just got a new pool so it was perfect to soak in during this unbearable hot weather. it was also hubby's nephew's birthday earlier this week so we had a huge birthday cake. tip of the day: don't serve ice cream cake outside in 100 degree weather. we also made it back to the city to see some of the macy's fireworks ...from the car...driving across 23rd street.
i made a
pistachio cake inspired from smitten kitchen. it didn't come exactly the way i wanted and the inside was hard as a rock and i think slightly uncooked. it looked really pretty though! next time i'm following her recipe exactly and hopefully it'll be just as delisicous as it's supposed to be.
