Christmas in New Jersey

Pin It now! Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I love all the days leading up to it and the Christmas cheer that comes along with it. For some reason, the holidays makes everyone a little more sweet and nice. I'm a sucker for Christmas tradition too.

We started our Chrismas merriment on Christmas Eve at hubby's sister's house. Usually all his cousins are there, but they were down in Florida. This year it was nice and intimate. We had the traditional 7 fishes for dinner. Baked clams, mussels, shrimp cocktail and fish salad with squid, conch...i'm sure we got all 7 in somehow. hubby made baked ziti and turky meatballs. the kids opened presents from the aunts and uncles and the occasional early santa gift. we played rock band and hubby, who had never played before, was hooked and finally realized what all the fuss was about! the big kids (hubby's two sisters, brother-in-laws and moi) did secret santa. i got the perfect cardigan (which i haven't stopped wearing) and my brother-in-law joe seemed to like his secret santa gift (a statistics book!).

(we were all exhausted by the end of the night)
I love that every year Christmas is at my parents' house and all my aunts and uncles and my cousins and all their kids are there to celebrate. Everyone expects the house to be (overly) decorated with ornaments and Christmas decor. There's also lots and lots of fabulous food. My parents, brother and sister always open presents before everyone gets to the house. We also took our annual Christmas picture (with hubby as the new addition) on the living room couch. Then all the relatives came, and we drank and ate the rest of the night. No kidding. I made a yummy artichoke dip and a fruit tart again.

i'm already in Christmas withdrawal.
