Surprise Showers and Bowling

Today I had two very different work events.  The first was a surprise bridal shower for one of my co-workers.  She had no idea we were setting up the large conference room with streamers, cake and lots of food.  She came in thinking there was a big meeting, notebook and all.  It was the perfect surprise though, and you can't go wrong with cake from Magnolia.  Love the bride cake topper.

I then met up with co-workers from my old group for bowling at Frames in the Port Authority.  I am a terrible bowler!  Seriously, I actually bowled a 35 one time!  Tonight I wanted to hit at least 100.  I didn't get triple digits but I came close - 88.  We're going bowling again in a couple of weeks so I have to redeem myself.   By the way, have you been to Frames?  It's really nice in there!  It has a lounge and restaurant too so if you need a quick bite before catching your bus, it's the perfect place.

M's bridal shower was this weekend in NJ and we had such a fabulous time. there was so much delicious food and if i wasn't just getting over my cold, i could have ate all day.  for one of the games we played, we became wedding cake decorators!  D made mini cake rounds and each team had frosting, fondant, sugar flowers, cake dust, and a million other things to choose from to decorate the cake.  K was on our team and because of that we won!  how cute are the snowmen cake toppers we added!

i can say that i'm a little jealous of the dyson ball vaccuum M received as a gift from her parents.  hubby...are you reading this?

sunday was my bridal shower and i had a fabulous time. the theme was dessert and wine, and we had so many sweets and bottles of wine.


we played the toilet paper bride game and it was so much fun. i was on team 2 (yay team 2!). everyone was really into it, and it was hilarious to see the brides. we didn't win, but one of my aunties did. she was having a great time.

i had my reservations about opening presents, but my sister and mom made a personalized bridal bingo game to get everyone through it with lots of fun.

it was amazing that my friends trekked from the city to my parents' house in nj, my cousins and aunties came, and fi's family were there to party. my sister was a great hostess (although she was a bit late since she got caught in traffic coming back with the rest of the desserts). we had so much wine and dessert, and it was all really yummy.

Spring Shower

my good friend had her bridal shower today. it was such a good time! we had yummy cake from carlo's bakery and cupcakes from buttercup bake shop. her moh and bridesmaids set up the game "where in the world is l?". they put together a slideshow of different places she's been with and without her fi, and we had to name that city, state or country. she and her fi are world travelers and it was so cute to have her friends and family reminisce about where they've been.

our moms went to college together along with a few other of my girlfriends' parents and we've been friends since we've been born. we all grew up together, celebrated birthdays and holidays with each others' families. now we can share our weddings together (and i'm sure our moms secretly wish us all to have kids at the same time too!).
