You are Here: Single Digits!

Pin It now! as i'm printing menus on a printer that stinks and jams the cardstock for no good reason, i realize that we're in the single digits. how did the time fly by? didn't we just get engaged? i remember FI emailed me at the 100 day mark. that felt like just yesterday. it's amazing how the last 3 weeks have flown by.

it hasn't completely hit me yet that i'm getting married. i guess all the chaos of planning and making things just the way they should be gets distracting. plus, FI have be living together for awhile so i don't have the added anticipation of moving in with him.

i'm getting married in 9 days!

Wedding Dress: Check

Pin It now! i went for my last dress fitting tonight. yay! the next time i see my beauty will be on august 8. i can't wait because i'm in love with the dress. it was the very first dress i tried on and four fittings later, it fits perfectly. my mom came to see how to do the bustle and the dress all bustled up looks even more gorgeous. isn't it sad that you only wear your dress for a few hours. i didn't want to take it off tonight. ahhh, i can't wait!

since i'm not posting my dress until wedding day, here are some dresses from uglydress.com to make you feel better about your own dress

wedding stalking at the highline

Pin It now! FI and went to the highline a few weekends ago. on our way home, we saw two weddings taking place at a church across the street from the bus stop. i couldn't help but snap some pictures.

plus, FI saw the sharp black suits the groom and groomsmen were wearing from the first wedding and he was inspired. he FINALLY found a suit - black suit with a black tie. yay! it was really difficult for him since he's an extreme athletic fit - broad shoulders, narrower waist. he looks really good in it though :)

oh yeah, and some pictures of the highline.

Readings

Pin It now! we finally finalized our readings for the ceremony. here are some that didn't make the cut, but just as beautiful

~Love~ by Roy Croft
I love you, Not only for what you are, But for what I am When I am with you.
I love you, Not only for what You have made of yourself, But for what You are making of me.
I love you For the part of me That you bring out;
I love you For putting your hand Into my heaped-up heart And passing over All the foolish, weak things That you can't help Dimly seeing there, And for drawing out Into the light
All the beautiful belongings That no one else had looked Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you Are helping me to make Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern But a temple; Out of the works Of my every day Not a reproach But a song.

I love you Because you have done More than any creed Could have done To make me good,
And more than any fate To make me happy.
You have done it Without a touch, Without a word, Without a sign.
You have done it By being yourself.

~From Captain Corelli’s Mandolin~ by Louis de Bernieres
Love is a temporary madness; it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.

~on love~ by thomas kempis
Love is a mighty power,a great and complete good.Love alone lightens every burden, and makes rough places smooth. It bears every hardship as though it were nothing, and rendersall bitterness sweet and acceptable.
Nothing is sweeter than love,Nothing stronger,Nothing higher,Nothing wider,Nothing more pleasant,Nothing fuller or better in heaven or earth

~The most wonderful of all things~ by Sir Hugh Walpole
The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life.

~Our Great Adventure~, (Adapted from Pamela Dugdale)
You are today still dizzy with the astonishment of love. You are surrounded by affection - by smiles and kindliness, by flowers and music and gifts and celebration.Yet they enclose a silence where you are close with one another.Your eyes see only each otherYou hear nothing but the words you speak to one anotherThis is the day you start out your life together. This is your new beginning.

~Les Miserables~ (excerpt) by Victor Hugo
You can give without loving but you can never love without giving. The great acts of love are done by those who are habitually performing small acts of kindness. We pardon to the extent that we love. Love is knowing that even when you are alone, you will never be truly alone again. And great happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved. Loved for ourselves. And even loved in spite of ourselves.

~The Magic of Love~ by Helen Steiner Rice
Love is like magic, and it always will be, For love still remains life's sweet mystery. Love works in ways that are wondrous and strange, And there's nothing in life that love cannot change! Love can transform the most commonplace Into beauty and splendor and sweetness and grace. Love is unselfish, understanding and kind, For it sees with its heart, and not with its mind. Love is the answer that everyone seeks; Love is the language that every heart speaks. Love can't be bought, it is priceless and free. Love, like pure magic, is life's sweet mystery

You Are Here - 25 days

Pin It now!
25 more days people! besides not sleeping because i have a thousand thoughts going through my head, i'm pretty calm for being only 25 days out. haha, i'm sure the people around me don't agree! we're doing really well though. it pays to be a type-a personality and really organized. i knew it would come in handy one day!

if today could be a birthday, it would probably look like this. 25 more days!

Village Food Tour

Pin It now! FI loves his food. he created a list of places we should try and we did a food tour from the west village to the east village.

we started at salt and batter for fish and chips (or in our case, just fish). then headed next to wogies for garbage bread. beer break at blind tiger ale. then korean bulgogi-kimchee hotdogs

cream puffs at beard papa's. we tried all 6 kinds (vanilla, mocha, green tea, chocolate, eclair and fondant au chocolate)

then tako yaki at otafuku

then everyone needed a beer break and we stopped off at solas. s and j went to find mexican corn (slathered with butter, cheese and red chili)

fries were next at pommes frites. we got the wasabi mayo, ketchup/mayo and parmesan dipping sauces

we were "scheduled" to get pizza at artichoke but the line was too long so we went across the street to our last stop - crocodile lounge for more beer and free pizza.

by the end of the day, we were all stuffed and exhausted. it was worth it though! my favorites of the day were the fish from salt and batter and they korean hotdog. we were already thinking of places for our next tour.

Copycat

Pin It now! when building my inspiration boards (ok, the two i've created), i've been trying to put them together without copying others.

i have to just copy and paste this one from 100 layer cake. it's gorgeous! i love the figs and the romantic fall colors.

Video Killed the Radio Star

Pin It now! i just bought my very first video camera! i'm so excited! FI didn't want a videographer because it was out of budget, but i think he just didn't want any videos ending up on youtube. so i figured it would be a compromise to buy a personal camera and have a friend film, at the least, the ceremony and our first dance. i think it'll come in handy for other family occassions and outings too. i just have to figure out how to use it!

so it's the jvc GZ-MG630SU (60G Hard Disk Drive Camcorder) in silver.

Vent

Pin It now!
since everyone reads my blog...haha, no just kidding...let's start over. since a two people read my blog, but also know people close to me, i'm keeping this vent short and sweet so i can't get it out and move on.

this is my wedding. i'm a nice person and considerate. i'm not thoughtless and shouldn't be treated like my choices are tragedies that are made to disappoint. when i tell you what we have decided, you don't have to say "ok, fine that's your choice". i'm doing things because i want them that way. i don't need people to tell me that they don't want to do it - just do it. do it for me and FI. when you volunteer to help, please do make me harrass you two weeks, then one month, then two months later to get it done. then don't volunteer! stop calling me a bridezilla. remember, this is a celebration of my and FI's marriage. please remember.

i don't feel much better because i know it's going to get worse in the next month. i just needed to put it in writing. maybe i'll remember this in a few years and laugh at how silly we all were.

"Augustitis"

Pin It now! ms. bruschetta from weddingbee has defined Augustitis [aw-guhst-eye-tis] as the inflammation of the calm, rational, stress-free portion of a bride-to-be’s mind, caused by her impending August wedding.

i think i have augustitis...actually for sure i have it. i'm starting not to be able to sleep and before i go to bed, i can't stop thinking of all the things we have left to do or what i have to do when i wake up. i'm glad that i'm diagnosed...august 8th can't get here fast enough!
