The Weekend

Pin It now! I'm still in the honeymoon phase of my Instagram crush.  I'm still wondering whether it's worth the $1B, but someone said it was about the user base.  I don't know what that means.  I just know that someone paid $1B for a company that makes my cellphone pictures look like the ones my parents were taking the year I was born...and I like it.  So this weekend, I ran my first 5K of the season with Alysse and Matt in Prospect Park.  There were a lot less runners for this race than the Lincoln Tunnel 5K I did last year and it was just one loop around the park, so there weren't markers indicating how far we had run and the race seemed to go a lot faster than expected.  By the time I thought I needed a break, we were done!  I hardly head out to Prospect Park or Park Slope so it was nice to walk around the neighborhood after the race.  We were loving the brownstones and the quietness of the neighborhood.  That night, Michael and I made our way to Best Pizza.  Anything that says it's the best better be good (and always reminds me of the scene in Elf when Buddy finds the World's Best Cup of Coffee..."You did it! Congratulations! Great job everybody!...")  It wasn't the BEST pizza but it was pretty close.  Their meatball sub is to die for and we couldn't go wrong by adding bacon and caramelized onions to the pizza.  For the rest of the weekend, I purged more clothes from the closet and storage, had my first Dough donut of the season (my favorite) and we went to Long Island for a wedding.  I'll post more photos of the wedding soon, but in the meantime, here's the weekend Instagram-style.

Wedding Weekend

Pin It now! This weekend I helped a friend's friend plan her wedding at the Bronx Zoo.  It was a lot of fun but completely exhausting.  I felt hungover on Sunday even though I didn't drink the day before!  I've said a few times I'm done with wedding planning but somehow I keep getting sucked back in.  Despite the endless (seriously, endless!) emails and telephone calls, when I watched the bride and groom take their vows during the ceremony, listened to the bridal party speeches and watched a slide show of the couple's photos, I remember why I love weddings.  No matter how much drama there was or how much stress was created leading up to the big day, the wedding day is filled with joy and happiness.  Always!  (At least the weddings I've been to!).  It also reminds me of my darling husband and how amazing our wedding day was.

The Bronx Zoo is a wonderful place to have your wedding.  It's a bit magical since there are animals all around you.  Peacocks were walking around the zoo grounds and one was even hanging out on the zoo center building during the ceremony.  The cocktail hour was in the Madagascar exhibit, which houses the lemurs, and it ended at the sea lion pool.

I'm not sure why I didn't take more photos - I think the only one I took was one of the groomsmen boutonnieres.  Once the photographer has photos up, I'll send them through.  I have to point out one vendor, the florist (Starbright Floral) who is completely AMAZING.  The bride's bouquet was especially gorgeous with roses, orchids and a peacock feather.

Someone's Getting Married Today!

Pin It now! Are you excited for the big event today??  A prince and soon-to-be princess are getting married!  As far as weddings go, this is as fabulous as they come.  Even with the time difference, a lot of people here are gearing up to watch the wedding live.  I would have loved to plan an English tea party, with hats, scones and everything, and invite other crazy people to watch starting at 4am in the morning (all the news channels are starting early), but I couldn't find anyone to take part.  I'm so sad sometimes.  Instead, with the help of the how-did-we-live-without-it DVR, I taped multiple channels that are showing the wedding and all of the gossip, fashion and pomp and circumstance.

I'm not sure what time the Times Square viewing party is taking place, but how cool is it to brave Times Square so early in the morning to watch a royal wedding.

Wedding Weekend

Pin It now! Our friends Min & David were married yesterday at the beautiful Bourne Mansion in Long Island.  The mansion was filled with romantic rooms and gorgeous chandeliers.  We stuffed our faces during their cocktail hour and then ate, drank and danced like fools for the rest of the night.  It was so much fun - Congrats you two!

Another Beautiful Wedding

Pin It now! Missy and Chris got married this weekend and it was a fabulous wedding.  From the time we got there (a little late!) it was non-stop eating, drinking and partying.  M&C have really great friends and they all kept an amazing vibe the entire night.  Huge cocktail hour (that was really an hour and a half!), unending drinks (just ask hubby!), a delicious dinner (with a baked mini pumpkin that my mom and I are going to try to recreate),  unlimited desserts which I didn't even put a dent on, and lots and lots of dancing.  Chris even got iced!  Congrats you two!
